2017 Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival information
It’s nearly March, which means that St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! Whether or Irish, or will just pretend to be Irish for a day, there’s plenty to do in the Dallas area! One of the largest events taking place for the 38th year in a row is the Dallas St. Patrick’s Day parade. Date and time
The 2017 Dallas St. Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2017. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m., and the festival will go on between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. No – it’s not on St. Patty’s Day, but it’s the weekend before, so you can start your celebrations early!
Parking
If you plan on driving to the parade, it’s advised that you get there very early. Parade professionals suggest that you DART to the festivities, using either the Red Line (closest stations are Lovers Lane and Mockingbird). There’s also the option to Uber to the parade – watch out for deals, as Uber is a sponsor!
Parade route
The Dallas St. Patty’s Day parade is one of the largest parades to celebrate the holiday, which means that it’s also one of the longest. The parade will begin on Greenville Ave. at Blackwell St. and travel for about two miles. It ends on Yale Blvd./SMU Blvd. at 75 Central Expressway. To see the full map, click here!
Concert
Each year, the Dallas Observer hosts a concert at the end of the parade route. This year (2017), Jimmy Eat World will be headlining at 7 p.m. If you’re not familiar, the band offers a 90s/early 200s vibe – something that most people can probably enjoy.
