Recently, the brand announced its plans to upgrade the ever-popular GL-Class to the GLS, and with it, there will be some extreme engines. 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS engine options and performance
There are a healthy variety of engines offered in the new Mercedes-Benz GLS, giving drivers the ability to harness different amounts of power. The following trims and their respective engine options are available:
Mercedes-Benz GLS450 4MATIC: The GLS450 option boasts a 3.0-liter v6 biturbo engine, featuring direct injection. This specific V6 provides the driver with 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
Mercedes-Benz GLS550 4MATIC: Under the GLS550’s hood rests a V8 biturbo engine, which also features direct injection. The engine outputs a whopping 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
Mercedes-AMG GLS63: As is typical of Mercedes-AMG models, the GLS63 offers the most power. The model’s engine is capable of 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque.
2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS diesel engine
As the auto world has evolved, interest in diesel engines has grown. Mercedes-Benz does offer a diesel engine option on the GLS, alongside the gas models. The Mercedes-Benz GLS350d 4MATIC trim is equipped with a V6 diesel engine, which outputs an impressive 255 horsepower. While it isn’t the lineups most powerful option, it does add a bit more variety to the brand’s combination of the GL and S-Class.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS should arrive at dealerships by March of 2016.
